Raquel Aldama, a sophomore at Fullerton College CA competing in her first track season with the Hornets, won the women's 3,000 meters in 11:24.56, surging ahead of Cal State L.A. sophomore Janet Meza-Avila (11:24.94) in the final 50 meters to secure the victory at the Cal State L.A. Invitational at Jesse Owens Stadium. Aldama, who hasn't competed in track since 2013 at Valencia High in Placentia CA, opened her season Feb. 8 by winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:51.87 at the Battle of the Regions.
